"Here is my secret. It is very simple: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.."- Antoine de Saint Exupéry

Waves

Motto: “How much better is silence; the coffee cup, the table.
How much better to sit by myself like the
solitary sea-bird that opens its wings on the stake.
Let me sit here for ever with bare things,
this coffee cup, this knife, this fork,
things in themselves, myself being myself.”
Virginia Woolf, The Waves

Peace in a distance,
Overwhelming and grand,
My spirit cannot touch it.
I have drowned my words in the blue
In the green and darkness.
Isn’t silence better?
Smashing restless against the walls of my soul,
Irregular resolute
Waves.

  1. every word grows out of silence
    every thing grows from emptiness
    I’m shure your soul
    has no walls is
    endless as the univers.
and the rocks that break the waves of your soul,
    thrown by senseless violence,
    be washed away
    by your patient tenderness.

    best wishes Ela!

  2. One of my favorite novels, The Waves, and you evoke it’s feeling beautifully.

  3. That should be “its” not “it’s”–autocorrect with a mind of its own again!

    • No worries John, this happens to me all the time.
I thank you from the heart for your comment.
I love the Waves and Virginia’s universe as well. There’s a certain restlessness about it, that cannot be described in words but only painfully lived.
